Des Moines Water Works Doubles Legal Fund in Water Quality Lawsuit

DES MOINES (May 25) - Des Moines Water Works is currently trying to sue several rural Iowa counties whose agricultural run-off contributes to high nitrate levels in Des Moines' drinking water supply -- nitrates that have to be removed by DM Water Works. The Water Works board has doubled the legal fund budget for the lawsuit which is expected to head to trial next summer.
